New Requests for Inter Partes Reexamination in Official Gazette of November 24, 2009

This week the Official Gazette noticed two inter partes requests filed by RTX Telecom and Skype Technologies against Riparius Ventures’ patents on a device and process to allow remote receipt and placement of Internet Telephony calls using emulation of traditional POTS telephone service through a combination of software and a specialized cordless handset appliance. Another inter partes request was filed by Severstal North America against Usinor’s manufacturing process patent on metal deforming by stamping a strip of steel sheet that is hot rolled and coated to ensure protection of the surface and the steel.

Requests for reexamination were noticed in the USPTO Official Gazette, captioned below. Notice of Filing of Request for Reexamination means that a request for reexamination has been filed, accorded a filing date, and published in the Official Gazette (MPEP 2215).
